$30 ELS27 clone connected 2006 Mazda 3 very well. Locally shipped in Melbourne Australia. Can only comment on that particular use case.

All modules on HS-CAN and MS-CAN appeared on connect. Connected at high speed and low latency. Using Forscan for Windows, USB adapter.

Think its using
1. FTDI FT32RL UART to USB
2. STN1170 v3.3.1 (ELM327 v1.3a)

<<<config log>>>
Interface:
Port: COM5, 2000000 kbps

Equal to previous one, it's a GOOD clone (outfit is equal):

Microchip
PIC24
HJ128GP
504-I/PT(88)
1642VWV

FTDI
1703-c
D9263701
FT232RL

Mondeo 2007 was read and performed "error clean-up"
Kuga 2014 was read and Cruise-Control was configured.

I had 2 adapters that worked with forscan, now it says clone detected with them. What changed with forscan?

With the development of the 2.4.x branch which is Module firmware programming capable and is currently only available by specific request, Forscan has incorporated a check of the adapters ability to send and receive data without having to do a large amount of error correction or incurring large numbers of CAN Bus communication errors.
The Forscan Teams experience with many of the low cost and Chinese built and/or "Cloned" ELM327 and ELS27 adapters having "bricked" Modules during Firmware updates and module programming has given them cause to incorporate a check of the adapter to make sure at can handle the large amounts of data that module programming requires! Any interruption in data flow during connection to the adapter or to the vehicle may trigger this message!

This is also incorporated into the latest versions in the 2.3.3x branch as well. See this topic(Second Point) for more details viewtopic.php?f=16&t=14885

Did anyone upgrade ELS27 clone using newest firmware for STN1170: https://www.scantool.net/downloads/updates/stn1170/?
Will that brick clone interface?

Interesting post
1) Clones are garbage and it's no different than "spinning that roulette wheel".
2) Any software update that includes a firmware update, will trash the "clone".
3) Software updates are designed to "look for the clone".
4) The new software will likely stop working because the firmware doesn't match.

With "factory style" clones that are used for programming can become a very expensive endeavor.
Trash a new or used controller via clone, will be an "eye opening experience" when the controller needs to replaced TWICE!
New and complex networks may accept "clone" connectivity but certainly don't expect any reasonable functionality.

Going cheap is a disaster in the making.

Hi all. Attached, a video of me testing a ELS27 chinese clone, with no success when connecting the vechicle.

Due to low attachment file size, the video is low quality.

If desired, can be seen in this link: https://youtu.be/zbmaNWp3xRo
