Dear All,
In Germany it requires to get a car-check in a two year turn.
Including in this check is a check of emissions.
All Cars first registered after 01.01.2006 only need to be checked by OBD if Readiness-Codes are OK.
Is there any option, to check this with FORScan. I don't exactly know, how to describe Readiness-Codes, maybe this helps:
http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Readiness-Code
Several Systems are checked and only if no Error in Memory the car will get a certificate for next two years.
At the moment I have an error in climate - one valve don't work every time. So airflow is sometimes only to windscreen and not to feets. Maybe this error will trigger Readiness-Code, maybe not.
Would be great to get a function to check in Forscan if Readiness would be OK or not.
Kind Regards
Stefan

If you have an Android/iOS device you can try Carista OBD2. It's free. Not sure about German but it works on US cars.

Re: Readiness Code for German
I have Android and also Carista OBD2. In our car this program only say OK for two modules. Maybe this is enough.Automate wrote:If you have an Android/iOS device you can try Carista OBD2. It's free. Not sure about German but it works on US cars.
Perhaps FORScan-Team would like to integrate a small information after reading DTC if emmissions-test with OBD would be ok or not. Maybe this is easy to realize/integrate such a function. I preferr FORScan for reading errors and checking my car.
Kind regards
Stefan

I agree!sf169 wrote:Automate wrote:Perhaps FORScan-Team would like to integrate a small information after reading DTC if emmissions-test with OBD would be ok or not. Maybe this is easy to realize/integrate such a function. I preferr FORScan for reading errors and checking my car.
Here is what Carista shows for my 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid (Mondeo)
Re: Readiness Code for German
We guess the end-goal of the check is to make sure your vehicle has no the emission related codes (this what the OBD protocol was created for). If monitors are not completed, the emission related codes may not be generated (even if a malfunctions exists). In case of Ford vehicles only PCM and (not always) TCM modules are OBDII compliant. So nobody should care about DTCs in your climate control module.
There are a lot of applications that work with OBDII protocol, so your problem can be easily solved. FORScan has OBDII support too - you should see OBDII module in the list of modules. You can read OBDII DTCs and also there is a special test "Read system monitor status" in the Tests section you can use to reach your objective. Unfortunately, current version of FORScan has problems with support of OBDII protocol in TCM module. We are going to fix the problem in later releases.

Re: Readiness Code for German
Found another prog with readiness flags for emission test.
http://laplogger.com/support.shtml?fily=free_android
There are also lite versions for Mac, Blackberry, Windows and Windows Mobile.
Also you can check out the great software list from
http://obd2help.co.uk/elm327_android_software.htm
where i found the software.
Unfortunately some links are outdated or software turned from free to payed version.
