Hi, new forscan user here so please be gentle.
I had a tow bar fitted by a professional fitter a few months ago and every since they programmed the tow bar electrics the volume and temperature change box on sync 3 has changed from the nice circular notification to a horrible square box. I have pasted some pictures below. Has anyone comes across this before and know how to reset sync 3 so it uses the nice round volume notifications? I have been playing with forscan and my new adapter but haven't spotted a way to fix this.

Tried that a couple of times and it didn't work. Am dubious about that master reset. It seems to reset most things but it retained my radio presets

Re: Sync 3 volume and temperature dialogue issue
Hi All
I have also run into this issue. I own two S Max & had a new Tow Trust bar fitted to both a few months ago & in both instances after the fitter reprogrammed the car I lost the nice circular pop out for volume, temp etc & now have the horrible square one. The electrics kit used was from Right Connections & the reprogramming kit is SP Diagnostics.
My fitter (lovely guy) has since returned & was able to un-program the tow bar settings & the visuals have returned. I am taking one of the cars to Ford next week for them to do the programming to see if that makes a difference. I will keep you posted.

Re: Sync 3 volume and temperature dialogue issue
I've just had a Tow Trust bar fitted to my S-Max today.
Was fitted first thing this morning and hadn't driven the car until just now. I noticed my display has changed in the same way.
Is there any further information?

Re: Sync 3 volume and temperature dialogue issue
I've found the solution and it's an easy fix with Forscan.
In APIM Configuration there is an option called "Type of volume knob" there are 2 settings - horizontal or rotary - set this to rotary, write the change and it'll be back to normal.
I found this by getting the as-built file for my car, saving the as-built configuration for each module in Forscan. Then I used as built explorer to compare each Forscan module file to the original as-built and made a note of the differences.
There was one difference in the APIM module, in block 7D0-01-01.
Googling that block reference gave me a hint that could be the problem so I had a dabble in Forscan and tried the setting above.
Comparing the now modified APIM backup to the original as-built now shows no differences.
Towing features all seem to work as they should, lights are fine, car recognises the trailer connection and rear parking sensors get disabled when trailer is hooked up.
Hope that helps someone.

All
I've just borrowed my local garage Laptop with ForScan installed.
Is anyone able to send me a step by step guide as I was unable to access the configuration side.
