Ford Mondeo / S-max error code P2033

Post by macman_lahti »

Hello!

I tried to find solution with Google but couldn't find it.
S-max 2011 2.0TDCI 120kw gives me error P2033.

===PCM DTC P2033:85-2C===
Code: P2033 - Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor Circuit High Bank 1 Sensor 2

I think this is sensor error in exhaust pipe but can anyone say what sensor I should change ?

BTW, I bought ELM327 wifi and read codes with iPhone and Forscan, worked very well :)

Bank mean exhaust pipe, normally 4-cylinder engines have just 1 bank. V6/V8/W12 may have 2 and more banks.

Sensor 2 means second sensor counting from the engine. In ytour case first sensor should be right after the engine (before catalytic converter). Second one should be right before DPF.

Corresponding PID should look like the following EGT12 or CATEMP12. You can use PIDs to check reading sfrom sensors and make sure there is a problem. Please note the problem may be in connection/wire/connector etc, not mandatory in the sensor itself.

By the way, this format (EGT12, H2S12 etc) is widely used in modern diagnostic to mark sensors. First digit is number of bank. Second number is number of sensor counting from the engine.

Dont waste your time. See live data, you will see that both sensors show temperature (over 100°c).
99% you have clogged fuel vapouriser. Disconnect small fuel line from it an try blow air in with your mouth. When clogged change vapouriser.

Is vapouriser same as filter ?

You mean part number 7 and blue fuel line ?

No, this its mounted before DPF: http://www.talkford.com/community/uploa ... _thumb.jpg
Check also DPF pressure difference.
1st run engine and see live data temperature sensor 1 + 2 must show data. Some difference is OK

Yes. If OK and temperature sensors are OK, problem wil be in DPF.

Here's picture of Forscan, speed 120km/h.

EGT1 & EGT2 are both giving values. Right now I'm not getting fault errors, but today car's idle was quite unstable. RPM's went up maybe 100rpm very short time and then dropped normal.
Maybe this belongs to same problem..?

And now there was error:
Code: P042A - Catalyst Temperature Sensor Circuit Bank 1, Sensor Circuit 2

Is this helping diagnose problem ?

Do DPF adaptation reset, go on the road and see..cat temp 1+2, car should immediately start regen. process. It should reach 600°C in few km. Also have you checked fuel vaporiser and supply fuel pump for it?
