and immediately wanted to do it so I set out to amazon to buy one after reading around. (Are these two guides doing the same mod of a device for different software?)
This is what I bought: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00WHZ ... ailpages00
I opened it and noticed it was off significantly less quality than the two pictures in the above guides. I most likely will be returning or just buying another one.

The wires connecting to the plug are barely gaugable.
I have read a couple post here and there about clones. I suspect I have one but I don't know.
Which one should I get when/if I do?
I choose USB but Bluetooth and Wifi are okay as long as I would be able to perform the mod.
I have the 2.1, clone or not, I says on the amazon page "Auto CAN-BUS Diagnostic Interface", does that mean this one can atomically switch been High and Mid CAN or is it just saying what the device is, a can-bus diagnostic interface for auto vehicles?
~UPDATE~
Okay so I installed the drivers from the disk that came with the device.
Plugged it in and I have a yellow triangle on the device in Device Manager.
This is what I see in FORScan though I could be using it wrong.

On the device, when it is plugged in a get a flash of lights across it and then a solid RED light.
~UPDATE 2~
Okay so I have advanced a little.
This is what I was seeing. I was sure it was just a box with flashing lights.

I got to looking around and found this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-8cojWp8qY0
It shows how to fix prolific usb to serial com drivers in Windows 8.1.
Now I see this:

So it will function as it should so far, I have yet to plug it into a car. (I am receiving errors in their program cause the OBD2 plug is not plugged into the chip. I unplugged it cause its cheap wires are breaking off the solder pins. If I have to keep this, I thank myself for taking pictures so that I can re-solder these wires.)
