Cylinder X Fuel Injector Offset Learning At Max Limit

Post by taylerdurden »

Hello,

I have a Focus MK3 TDCi 1.6 115hp from 2011.

When I use Forscan, always it gets those errors in different cylinder, normally 3 of them, but sometimes 4. I clear DTCs but it generates again. (I have attached the forscan log)

Only problem that I notice is when I start the engine, for some seconds the rpm oscilates slightly, and if I start to run, the car jerks a little, but I don´t know if it is related with the first problem. (I have attached a video)

Another thing I saw with Forscan is that injector 3 in idle is contributing less than the other cylinders, and injector 4 is contributing more, but when the engine increase it rpm, the contribution of all the cylinder compensates and keeps the same (I have attached the video from the forscan record)

I don´t know if those problems are normal, or if are them related, or dangerous. Anyone with this problem? I went to the dealer and they don´t see any problem :x

Thanks in advance

We would recommend to check injectors (leak test), fuel pressure in rail and also knock sensor.

Also you may try to learn injectors are described here:

I had exactly the same issues with my Ford Focus MK3 1.6 Tdci

Ran the same procedues as described by Forscan but issue remains.

Googled fuelling issue which took me to a forum think it was TalkFord where it was suggested to replace the fuel filter.

So bought a fuel filter and a one way priming hand pump, fuel filter is quite expensive!

Replaced filter, removed fuel inlet line, installed priming pump and filled fuel filter.

Reinstalled fuel inlet line and started ran for 5 minutes running a little rough.

Stopped engine loosened all 4 injector connections and put paper to absord diesel, turned engine over for 10 seconds, to be sure all air purged turned engine over for another 10 seconds.

Retightened injector connections. 13 and 14 mm spanners required, be careful.

Did about 80km engine a lot quieter, cleared error codes and faults have not reoccured. Done about 800km fuel effiency a little better engine and gearchange a lot smoother.
