Unable to start service procedure

Post by NextGenHen »

Hi,

I'm interested in programming a spare key for my ford fiesta style (2006) but when I try to start PATS programming I get the following error "Unable to start service procedure". I haven't got a key to program yet but I wanted to check that it would be possible before I buy a spare key.

I'm using a ELM327 v2.1 adapter off ebay. Could this be the cause?

After toasting my old ELM v1.5 (PATS worked with this version) I just received a v2.1. "Unable to start service procedure" - Fiesta MY 2006 doesn´t like ELM v2.1. It also only finds two modules - OBD2 and PCM.

It is not possible to purchase original ELM327 v2.1 on ebay, only a clone. In rare lucky cases it is old good v1.5 clone just renamed to v2.1 (example: VGate iCar), but in majority of cases is bad clone that will not work with FORScan. Sorry, it seems to be a real problem to obtain a cheap and good clone now. More information: http://forscan.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1575

Sad but true - tried two different clones from different sellers, both claim to be 2.1 but don´t realy work... So ONLY buy one if it is said to be 1.4 or 1.5!

Unfortunately, it is not a criteria anymore :( We already have complaints from users who purchased v1.5 (in fact they are the same 2.1 just renamed) but also have reverse examples when clones marked as v2.1 work good (again renamed, this time from 1.5 to 2.1). So things become even more embroiled now...
