Hello new to the forum and hope someone can help me with a query regarding using the above OBDlink SX adapter with Forscan on a 2005 Mk2
Ford Focus 1.6tdci.
I see in the spec for the SX adapter that it does not support MS CAN mode.
My question is do I need this for Forscan on the Ford Focus?
Some alternative adapters have a toggle switch to select MS CAN or HS CAN. I am unsure as to which modules on Forscan need the different modes for this vehicle.
Any advice regarding the suitability of the SX adapter with Forscan appreciated. The SX adapter is on the approved list for the Forscan adapters but will it work ok on the mk2 Focus?
Thanks for your time.

Re: OBDlink SX usb adapter and Forscan for mk2 Ford Focus
I don't know the specifics of the Focus CAN-BUS, I would be surprised if it didn't have an MS-CAN. But maybe 2005 is a little early for that. Maybe someone with a focus from the same year might help answer your question, but i would just buy a cheap USB Elm clone with a hardware switch just to see if the car has an MS-can... it might be quicker than waiting for support on this forum.
Of course the SX will work with your car, it just won't find any modules that are located on the MS-CAN, if one exists. I personally would not waste money on anything from Scantool. Maybe the Bluetooth version, when it's on offer, but that's it.

I have an 04 expedition (US market) and my log info shows no MS CAN modules, they're all J1850 PWM. Then again, if i were you, i'd just get the mx. It's guaranteed to work and show you your MS CAN modules(if you have any)

Hello. How are you? I confirm that. I have obdlink sx, and it doesn't work with mscan. The better for that is obdlinkMX.
I have decided to buy the modified elm at james simpson. Do you think that it will be good and stable?
Regards.
