How to use the Autel MaxiFlash Elite J2534 with Forscan

Post by Rickyslater102 »

Hi everyone. Although i have been a vehicle mechanic for many years i am only just getting into the world of Forscan.
I have dedicated Snap-On and Autel diagnostics, however i have been finding it increasingly difficult to carry out certain jobs on certain vehicles lately, primarily dpf and scr faults on ford vehicles. After some searching online i came across Forscan which i have now downloaded and installed successfully.
Being as i already had the maxiflash j2534 with my Autel ms908s pro i thought it made perfect sense to try and use it with Forscan.
After quite a lot of searching and piecing bits of info together from different threads etc i have managed to get it working nicely and its actually very easy to do so i will explain my way here and if it helps even just one person then it was worth the time spent writing this message.

1) download and install Forscan.
2) connect your Autel maxiflash J2534 to your pc via usb cable (provided with the maxiflash - or can be bought separately)
2) download the maxi pc suite from the autel website https://autel.com/us/software-downloads/ and install (at this point your maxiflash should beep and you should now have two green lights on the unit).
4) run Forscan, open settings by clicking the cog wheel and clicking on the connection tab.
.Choose connection type J2534.
.In the J2534 adapter drop down, select maxiflash elite/pro.
.Put a tick in the auto connect box.
Close Forscan and then re launch Forscan.

You should now have a successful connection and a green light next to INTERFACE bottom left.

If this post is in the wrong place, not needed or not useful then please either move it or delete it and accept my apologies.
I hope this helps.
PS; you have some great info on this forum and i will be using it a lot more from now on.
Thank you.

Hello, I have an Autel J2534 Box from a IM608 and I cannot get it to connect, I do have 2 green lights, one power and one connection via USB cable. But it will not let me connect to FORscan showing missing adapter. I connect to MAXIsuite no problem and it shows its connected. But it will not let me do anything else.

Do you leave the MaxiSuite open, when connecting to Forscan? This is what I discovered I needed to do. Long time since original post and im sure you've figured it out by now but this may help someone else.
