To the best of your knowledge has there been any alteration in the program coding that would render my interface partially inoperable?
The last time I made use of the Forscan program (some time ago) I used version 2.3.36 & there wasn't any sort of issue with Forscan utilizing my interface.
Last week I upgraded to version 2.3.59 & the interface was rendered partially inoperative. Removing 2.3.59 & reinstalling 2.3.36 returned the situation to normal.
My vehicle is a 2018 Ford Escape, if one doesn't need the newer program version I take it that by not upgrading the program I'm not losing anything?
thx very much

To Answer your first question: Yes! FORScan has progressed far beyond the ability that your OHP adapter is capable of!55trucker wrote: Tue Apr 23, 2024 2:45 am https://ohptools.com/products/ohp-elmco ... car-coding

I assume you are getting an error message similar to this in FORScan 2.3.59: "This adapter has performance problems and may not be allowed to perform some configurations"?
This is partly due to but not limited to the external HS/MSCAN Switch!
Starting in about 2014 CAN Networks called HSCAN 2 and 3 and more networks(Linear Interconnect Network or LIN) started appearing that actually reside on the MSCAN and LIN network and require access usually through a Gateway module(GWM) to both HSCAN and MSCAN access at the same time!
Externally switched adapters are too slow or by nature unable to perform with these systems! You may not even see these networks in the FORScan modules tab with a switched adapter!
The OBDlinks EX and the vLinker FS were developed with FORScan Help and Input to be able to access networks like this! These adapters also have the added benefit of being Firmware upgrade-able when something changes that requires a new capability!
The OHP adapter was probably one of the better clones using the original ELM327 spec of which there no adapters with original ELM chips being used or sold online anymore and the original ELM Electronics company ceased operations in 2023!
As to your last question? That would be your choice but for $60.00US for a OBDlink EX(https://www.scantool.net/obdlink-ex/) and even less for a vLinker FS(https://www.amazon.com/dp/B094Z7PBLS) my feeling would be why would I not upgrade?
But that is just my opinion!
