Function not available

I have been using forscan on my android with a elm 327 and have no issues. I loaded forscan on and android tablet and now on a ATOTO android radio. On both the tablet and radio they connect and show my vehicle info, however when I try to go to dashboard and try to ad pid to watch I get an error "this function is only available if connection to vehicle is established". I ordered one of the bt adaptors listed on forscan but it does not get here till tomorrow. Has anyone had this happen and if so what was the fix?
