Ford Galaxy 2010 Ecoboost 2.0 Petrol Temp Sensor

Recently Had a P0117 Error and knew it wasn't a sensor problem as this was brand new. So I checked wiring and it was shorting out so I cut the connector off stripped the wiring loom back so i had "new" wires. this cleared the code. I then made new wire to the plug and plugged it back in to the sensor.
I now have a P0118 Error so my question is if any one can help, will i maybe need to switch the wires round as I wasn't sure if the polarity of the sensor wires mattered or not and would cause the error code.
Any help advice much appreciated im pulling my hair out now !
