Forscan changes Elm327 settings to Iso?

Post by ronmac73 »

I'm having a lot of trouble getting this program to work on either of my Mercury Mountaineers, 2002 and 2004. One of them lost its PATS programming when battery went dead. Now doesn't recognize keys. I really need to get this functional ASAP! My adapter is elm327 bluetooth. It is Chinese. However it was purchased a couple of years ago. Quality seems good. It recognizes all the terminal commands and works very well in terminal program. Never failing to deliver the data. And it does it fast. No connection issues with actual vehicle. Problem arises when i try to use it as the adapter for this program. It simply won't connect to vehicle. No problem connecting to adapter. It just can't connect to vehicle or identify it. The few times it has connected it recognized only a couple of modules. Now the program is changing the protocol to Iso if it doesn't connect right away. Which it never does. Each time i start program I'm making sure of my adapter's setting in Stnterm. It's always set for SAE PWM 1850. After trying to connect with Forscan and failing the ATDP terminal command shows that current protocol is now ISO 9141-2. I don't have it set for auto. I know it isn't the adapter causing the problem. It just performs too well in Stnterm. Any ideas? I'm running the program on XP Pro sp3.
