Okay,
Not sure how much traction I will get here and apologize if this is wrong place. What I would like to do/build is a user PID interface. What I mean by that is the ability to add sensors that did not originally come on vehicle for data logging.
I think this is possible as forscan can already address user customized PIDs. What would be needed is an interface between the obd2 port and the elm327. This would have hopefully 8 input connections, to allow an end user to hard wire sensors in.
Why? I have yet to find anything that can do this short from some very expensive monitors and they are limited to 2 inputs plus obd2. For example in my super duty the coolant sensor is just a switch so I get no real time data. If I installed a sensor then set scale 0-5v 0-300*f and addressed it as user PID it should be able to be addressed in forscan to find it? Maybe I am just day dreaming again...
Anyone got any ideas here on how to go about this? I know enough to be dangerous with some code and solder iron but am somewhat limited. Maybe an aurdino or something could be made into the interface?
