2011 Ford Focus 1.6 tdci intermittent fault p2290

Post by JCE »

Hi guys,
Looking for help with fault code p2290 - Injector Control pressure too low
The fault is stored in the pcm, I have not yet experienced the symptoms, but are described as a stutter/ stall and loss of power when attempting to move away from traffic lights or junction after sitting there for a few minutes. A quick cycle of key resolves the problem.
I have drove the car approx 15kms, cruised and also dove the shite out of it through the gears, but no faults or power loss symptoms experienced.
No EML on dash
I've firstly changed fuel filter, no change according to owner, who informs me it has happened 3 times in the past week after driving for maybe a half hour.
I've also done an injector leak off test, which I am very happy with the result across all 4 injectors.
No issues starting or driving the car except for when symptoms show themselves, and a key cycle resets and you can continue as normal again.

Anyone out there with experience with similar fault??

Cheers

Might be intermittently loosing low pressure supply, or intermittently drawing in air, loosing power to pump or maybe the pressure control valve is going bad or has a bad connection.
I would start on low side of fuel delivery and work toward the front. Check fuses, electrical connections, supply pressure etc.
Although you probably wanna get it malfunctioning first as it'll pass the tests when it works ok.
Intermittant faults can be a pain, I only attack the issue when I can get it to happen first.
