2022 F350 6.7 light on with no code

Post by Jerry B »

I've had a failing DEF line heater for a while that was throwing a code for it P221C. Did a manual test on the heating element and it was bad so I changed out the line with the heater yesterday. The P221C code imeadiately was gone with a new scan but the light stayed on. Didn't see any other codes.

Disconnected the batteries for about 5 minutes and reconected. Light was still on with no code showing in FORScan.

Trying to avoid traveling to the dealer. Somewhere other than DTC module that may show me what going on?

Thanks

Jerry

Do a DTC reset( RH triangle Button in the DTC ICON lower Left) if you have not already done so(should always do this even if there are no codes showing after a repair) and see if the MIL light goes out! This action forces the PCM and other modules to clear all of the "Keep Alive Memory" or "KAM" as Ford calls it!

Should leave a P1000 code only that will be retained for approx. about 40 drive cycles(warm up to operating temp and cooling to cold)!

Disconnection of the Battery negative connection can/will do so but some times it takes longer than 5 Minuets(has been known to take at least 10-30 minuets negative battery disconnection for all of the Module capacitors to drain. Any restraint control or Air bag work asks usually for negative battery disconnect for at least 10 minuets to insure no inadvertent airbag release due to capacitor charge retention)!

Does doing a DTC reset clear all the modules? I'm specifically hoping to clear the TCM KAM.

Thanks!
