2016 2.2 Ford Transit injector pilot relearn failed.

Have MK8 transit 2.2 tdi. Had one of the pistons crack so rebuilt the engine, new injectors etc.
Tried to do the injector pilot relearn at the time but it was too cold here and the temp would not stay in the range.
Have since driven 6000kms with no issues, engine starts, runs good. Occasionally a little rough on cold start for min or two but nothing to be concerned over.
Tired to redo injector pilot relearn recently and it comes up with a fault saying engine speed too high after 15mins of the procedure.
During these 15mins the engine cycles up to 3000rpm and back to idle.
Fault occurred at idle speed.
Can any one example? is this the idle speed, speed of engine while it does relearn?
Data shows idle speed 840-850rpm.
