Is FORD VCM II compatible with forscan ?

Post by noctis707 »

Hello everyone,

Recently i have been trying to enable the trip computer on my ford fiesta mk7.5, sadly i have bought so far 4 different elm327 adapters and none of them work, i always get the error message that the adapter i am using is a bad china clone

Anyways i met someone who is selling this ford VCM II :

https://www.boschdiagnostics.com/pro/pr ... ord-vcm-ii

Will it work with the forscan software ? its quite expensive and i don't want to buy it just to find that it doesn't work

Thanks in advance

Since cloned ones work i guess a genuine one also should do the trick.

You could also try buying a modified ELM327 adapter with HS-CAN / MS-CAN switch.
They usually work. Most sellers also claim that these units have been tested to work.

Other option is to buy an genuine adapter. Genuine ELM are very rare but there is also STN11xx chipset known to work.
There is an extra thread here in the forum. Known good adapters are russian ELS27, polish "Viaken ELM V3" and Obdlink SX and MX series.
But at least for ELS27 and Obdlink adapters there are also a lot counterfeit adapters out there.
But there are some trusted sources you can find in the "where to buy an compatible adapter thread". ;)

You can also buy a genuine J2534 adapter like CANtieCAR, Mongoose J2534 adapter or similar. These start at about $200 for the cheapest ones.
