Steering wheel signal in Mazda MX-5

Post by leisurehound »

Hi:

Am trying to decipher the steering wheel sensor from my 2012 Mazda MX-5 with DSC module and I believe I've found the data in broadcast ID 0x80 byte 1 but the byte overflows and underflows at low steering wheel angles. Usually that would lead me to think its 2 bytes and needs to be combined with an adjacent byte but byte 0 is a counter and byte 2 is almost always 255. I suspect there may be a turn counter somewhere but curious if there is experience here on how to decipher signals from SASMs.
