Only one key with my current Mondeo! Can Forscan help?

Post by AdrianH »

I have a Mondeo diesel estate of the TDDI variety, when it finaly gave up the fight it had done 224000 miles or nearly 360,000 Km. The repairs were to much so I went and bought a more moderm Mondeo estate another Mk3 but with a 2007 reg off Ebay :!:

It only has the standard key with it, the one with the remote lock/unlock buttons, there is no master key with it.

I had two keys with the old mondeo one was a basic key, no buttons but had a red insert.

Now my question, I can get a blank key cut to match the key I have and was wondering if possible to dig the chip under the red insert out of the now defunct key and use with a newly cut key to give me a master key again.
I had locked myself out of the old car several times somehow with the keys inside and without the master or spare I had to resort to smashing windows to get in.

Can I do this easily with Forscan, I appreciate I will need the extended register code to do this but before I apply, it is worth asking the question.

Cheers

Transponder from old key won´t work with the new car. You need a new transponder type crypto transponder 4D60. They come in a standard key with a blue cap.
You can get new standard key with transponder with uncut blade for around 8€ on ebay. Transponder only costs about the same amount if bought separate.
Don´t know if there is such a master key on the Mondeo MK3. Mine came with two keys with wireless remote. But it is a used car and the learned keys value reads "3" with FORScan...

And yes - PATS programming for learning transponder for immobilizer can be done with FORScan with extended license. But transponder must match to the car. ;)

Hi Fred, you just had me going downstairs and checking the old key in the cupboard and it is blue so my mistake, both Mondeoa were/are MK3.

So I have a good chance at succeeding, is it difficult, there seems to be two methods which have you used?

Which methods? I didn´t had to do anything with the keys yet. Both keys are already learned and both work fine.
Transponder from blue cap should be OK.

PATS programming can be done if you have both original keys / transponders that belong to the car as it is explained in the manual.
If there is only one key PATS programming has to be made by software. Usually you had to go to a ford dealer and pay some bucks for that. But FORScan now also does support it. :D
I have already read how to do PATS programming with FORScan but never have done it by myself.

New key should arrive tomorrow, and providing I got the T-code correct so it fits the locks I will have a go at programming it in via FORscan
