FORScan Lite does not display odometer data

Post by Jollycatman »

Hello fellow forum members!
The car is a Mazda 3 (BK) 1.6i 103 hp [2005], the adapter is a Vgate vLinker FD+, and the problem is that the odometer data is not displayed in the Vehicle menu. My question is, with this software and this adapter, can I somehow see the odometer readings or the kilometers the car has traveled?

Yeah you should be able to get that info from the IPC or also often the pcm and others store it also.

Yes, there is odometer data in the IC, but the readings are 0 km!? It's as if the odometer is not connected to the car's computer and the kilometers traveled are visible on the dashboard, but are not recorded anywhere. And I wonder if this is the case only with my car or is it the case with this Mazda model?! Image

It's the computer that stores the travelled distance so it should be there. Strange. Did you want to check it or change it maybe?

In fact, the Odometer Rolling Count indicator is almost always 0, because it is different from the Odometer indicator, which shows the total kilometers traveled. It turns out that in the Mazda 3 BK, as well as in the Mazda 6 of this generation, the kilometers traveled are recorded only on the odometer of the instrument cluster, but not on the car's computer, and therefore FORScan does not find anything to read.

That makes sense. Although I thought you were taking the info from the cluster. They all vary, some only store it within one module and others (typically more modern cars) can store it in many modules.
The odometer rolling count is probably for how many times it's rolled over the maximum displayable number.
But surely the odometer value should still be stored in there or at least displayed in a live data pid via the cluster?

Interesting to know.

Actually, this screenshot is from the Instrument Cluster data and as you can see, there are no odometer readings anywhere.

That isn't enough pids to be all the data from the cluster matey.
