Well, those tests are not in there so the online documentation is wrong.
Forscan did help me diagnose my #8 injector as bad, but the CCT test would definitely be a big help on these engines.

How were you able to determine what injector was bad? My injectors pass the “click test” but I obviously have one or more that are not firing until the engine is at running temp. Even then I am getting skips. I have watched the ficm and the voltage is good.

Re: American 6.0L V8 Diesel cylinder balance/injector test
So I have a 2006 F350 6.0 and have noticed smoking when cold, no hard starts but rough idle etc.
I got forscan set up and did a buzz test the other day and everything past, all the clicks were there.
I tried again this morning when everything was cold and I believe 4 and 8 did not click.
Ran the truck to check for misfires and everything was good.
Then it past the click test after running (roughly) for about 5 min.
My question is does the injector shut down work on the 6.0 powerstroke?

Re: American 6.0L V8 Diesel cylinder balance/injector test
let the engine go cold and retry the test.
If the same cylinders fail to click... warm the injectors with a hot air gun or boiling water and try it again
It might prove the fault is temperature related.
try injector cleaner additive

Has there been any update on this? I am looking into my options for what kind of setup i need to run reliable contribution tests on 6.0 diesels. Any help would be appreciated. The OTC Encore handheld unit looks awesome but it's over $2,000 Cad, so I'm looking at the forscan route. Apparently autoenginuity doesn't preform a reliable contribution test from what I've heard.

Just curious as I have AE and ForScan. Do you have more detailed info on the reliability issue reported with the AE cylinder contribution testing?Ralberta wrote: Fri Sep 20, 2019 2:21 am Has there been any update on this? AutoEnginuity's "contribution" / "power balance" test is fundamentally useless and very misleading.Ralberta wrote: Fri Sep 20, 2019 2:21 am Has there been any update on this? So far as I can see only the IDS has the ability to do a cylinder power balance test without the computer compensation hiding the problems. I have auto enginuity and it is pretty useless for this. I have been to three shops that have Snap On, OTC, etc... same issue. They can’t see past the computer compensation, I was hoping that Forscan could help. Refreshing but not there

My dad has ford ids and now the new fdrs i believe they call it and i gotta say WOW. i can see why their diagnostic systems are so expensive and its nice to do tests on the trucks while im inside on the laptop when its -35 out. I showed him forscan and he was actually very impressed with it we went through his 12 f350 6.2 and he was impressed with how much it showed and everything and i am too, download was free extended licences is 50 bucks for lifetime which is way cheaper then ids and i can watch and test stuff in real life it doesn't get much better then this without spending a arm and a leg. give it some and im sure they'll come up with something soon he's actually going to download it too since you can change stuff on these trucks while ids cant.Capt_Tom wrote: Sat May 09, 2020 12:56 pm So far as I can see only the IDS has the ability to do a cylinder power balance test without the computer compensation hiding the problems.
