Ford Focus MK3 "reset all adaptation" function

Hi everyone.
I would like to put Your attention about 4 PIDS:
INJ_LRN_C1
INJ_LRN_C2
INJ_LRN_C3
INJ_LRN_C4
On a good condition engine it came out that these 4 values were at "7".
Could it be that these 4 PIDS are the famous ones used by Ford Technician to verify when the Injector Learn Procedure is complete for every Injectors?

Absolutely. It looks like these are exactly the PIDs that have to be used in order to track the injector learning. It seems they change in range 0...7, where 7 means that the learning is complete. Because of a bug is FORScan , these PIDs are not available in v2.3.3 and earlier. The fix will be available in v2.3.4 official release. For now, everyone can use this test build to read these PIDs:

The issue is also actual for other vehicles with the same engine (1.5/1.6 TDCi) - Mondeo Mk4, Galaxy/S-Max, Transit Connect.

how do i get in forscan to this screen you pictured where can i see which injector works how much? which menu should I choose, and should the car be turned on?
i have a forscan v2.3.37, and i can't see the performance data of each injector. can this be seen in v2.3.4?

I took highway, put warning light and accelerate until 2500, let until 1500 , and repeat. Gear 4th
AFter 450s ~7 minutes, my car was awake in normal life. So happy to do not hear this fucking bad knocking noise from motor
During the learning , value of INJ_LRN_Cx pass through 0 to 7. but when I had my 4 values at 7, the learning was not complete, the motor was not perfect yet. Now values PICL_INC_Cx start to move also...800 288 512 544 ...
When all PICL_INC_Cx are not zeroed, your car is right, on dashboard you can see "Normal Mode"
After the motor sound was normal

DO YOU KNOW WHAT ARE THESE VALUES PICL_INC_C1?
My DPF values are
DPF_LOAD 1.00 %
DPF_SOOT_LD 5.00 %
Is my DPF in good or bad condition ? 180Kkm

I had a strong rattle when accelerating after doing the "Reset pilot injection quantity learned values" procedure. I drove the car in the highway with the cable connected and forscan running for half an hour controlling the parameters, INJ_LRN_C1 to INJ_LRN_C4, which all got from 0 to 7 without problems, accelerating up to 2500 rpm and then allowing it to come back to 1500 rpm on it's own without touching any pedal. Still had that rattle when accelerating, not as bad as after the reset but still was there. So I decided to pay a visit to Ford's official dealership here in Portugal. Fortunately I was able to speak to the mechanic upon arrival and he immediately offered himself to go for a ride with me in the car. Funny thing, he started to explain me the learning process of the injectors (I've never confessed what I've done), but said that I should go up to 3000 rpm and allow it to come down on it's own to 1000 rpm without touching anything. I've asked him what gear would be best to do it, and he said the 2nd would be fine, although most of the process has been done on the 3rd gear. Noise is gone now or at least that I find not normal. After driving two days with that rattling, I think my ears have already started to look for any little noise, but I think it's OK now.
Apparently the learning process is an ongoing process that never ends, so if your car is doing injection noises, it will get better over time by doing the procedure even after all injector values are on 7.
Another thing, I still get from time to time the DTC "Code: P02D3 - Cylinder x Fuel Injector Offset Learning at Max Limit", but I think this has to do with a high number of learning cycles being discarded. When this happens the values on "PICL_INC_C1" to "PICL_INC_C4" are usually up to crazy values (sometimes between 250 and 500). Sometimes they get cleaned and down to zero again, sometimes they don't and I don't quite understand how this is done. Like I said before, looks like the learning cycle is a continuous process and you'll always have discarded cycles.

This is really interesting. I have exactly the same issue after doing the same reset. My values are now all up to 7, but, like yours, the engine still rattles slightly. How many rev-ups did it take to resolve the noise? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I have an 2011 1.6TDCi Mk3 Focus that drives me nuts right now.
The things are like this:
Two years ago I got one failed injector and i replaced it with a used one, after the replacement I had its correction factors added to the PCM via Forscan by a friend. During that my friend also did a reset of pilot injection and everything was Ok.
A few weeks ago i started seeing some white smoke and uneven idle at coldish (10-15°C) starts.It starts like a champ when its colder than that. So I decided to do the pilot injection reset again. Last sunday I had the engine all warmed up connected the ELM327 and Forscan, did the reset and started going for a ride in wich I tried to drive as much as I can throttling upto 2500-3000RPM and letting it engine brake to 1500RPM. In 20 minutes all the INJ_LRN_ PID were showing a 7 so the learning was ended. But I still had a diesel knock at around 1500-1900RPM. I drove like that for 5 days and did another pilot injection reset.
This time I did it during the night on an free road, and did the same thing 2500-3000RPM engine brake-ing to 1500RPM untill all the INJ LRN were showing a 7. THis time the knock got louder and started at a much lower RPM (it starts at 1000RPM and lasts to 1600RPM). The knock can be heard in the video uploaded at this link: https://easyupload.io/67aaox

I also saved the log I had from the last injector learn and i'll be uploading it soon.

What should I do? Should I do another reset of the pilot injection? My ears tells me that its a little worst after the last learning procedure. What would make my injectors do a bad learning?

Same here. I had to change 1 injector (hopefully will be enough). I did a :
1. Pilot injection reset
2. High pressure reset
3. Egr reset
Originally had 4 mistakes for adaptation max reached and error for low pressure in 1 cylinder.
The motor was really shaking bad on cold. Was shaking after the swap of the 1st injector. Yesterday i did the above 3 resets and drove for 20km wiht the 2500-1500 method. Turned off the engine and back on again. Drove back home but the injectors knocked bad at the beginning. Felt better in the end. Then this morning the motor was not shaking too much.
It concerns me that i cant see the pid 0-7 for adaptation and dont know if i did right. Still heraing knocking in front at midrange rpms.

Hello, I'm new here. My English is poor. I have a problem with the injectors in the Mazda 5 CW 1.6. Injections, new VDO, coded. The car is barking hard when accelerating. I am trying to do a pilot dose reser, driving as you describe, but to no avail. Mazda is not in the parameters INJ_LRN_C1 C2 C3 C4 as it is in the case of Ford. I tried to connect the IDS but my software is too old and it cannot see the car. Maybe someone had a similar case with Mazda?

Please keep us informed about results - especially interested to find out what exactly dealer does to restore the configuration.

So. I went to the dealer and explained my adventure. He told me that clearing all adaptation is a HEALTHY process fot the car from time to time and he is even recommending this process as the car indeed learn its values during driving cicle. So he plugged the ids and after uploading all the calibration updates he cleared the learned values also. He asked me to join him on a ride and i jumped in passenger seat holding the laptop for him. He stared a cycle of learning WHICH IS VERY STRICT ,not just a random driving. I red all the info on the learning process page since the laptop wasin my hands....

Read carrefully:

1.3rd 4th 5th or 6 gear
2.Over 40 km/h
3.Deceleration repeatedly from 2500rpm to 1500rpm for 20 km (we ended sooner)

I asked him to let me take a picture with the page he was on and he refused me. He told me to write down the 3 steps above but no pic...☺
There were several stages he must complete to have all the injectors learned - initially all 4 were red with a big 0 on. During the cycle each injector changed the 0 value to other value (3 4 5...don't remember) till finally reached 7 and turned green. Learning complete. He repeated this cycle until all 4 were on 7 and turned to green.

So guys if don't have an IDS clear /reset those adaptations and do EXACTELY as described above , as the learning is only applying when decelerate. He eplained that to me. He told me that the car was better after learning performed by me but not best because i didn't follow the procedure.
I asked him how can i do it myself next time and he told me that without IDS i will not know when the process is complete. Then i asked him what if i'm driving for 30 min as he did (2500 to 1500 and back to 2500 and back to 1500 and so on) and he smiled telling me that YES if you do that you will learn the values correctly for sure because the learning process took about 10- 15min to complete. With other words without IDS just to be on the safe side make it double...30 min up and down and the learning will complete.

Hope the above helps you. Clear all adaptation IS A SAFE process and i would love to see it back. Delaer told me that he personally will clear adaptations each 50-60k km but a must at 100k.
I have my silent car back ,there is no loud rattle at all and fuel consumption back to where it was (if not better)

Hi to all,
I'm new on this forum, but i fave a Ford Focus MK3 that had an injector that faild and was changed, the service company didn't know about this procedure and the consumtion was sky level, start from stop position instant consumtion was about 30-40 l/100km and on idle i didn't de below 0,7l/100Km,
after reset pilot learning and use this procedure and follow up with forscan my car was back on the previos state maximum 20l/100Km on instant consumtion and 0,3l/Km on idle.
