Ford Focus MK4 BCM Firmware Update
Today I have tried to flash the BCM on my Ford Focus MK4 2019 to the latest BJC Version. The reason are battery problems, so not just for fun.
Ive use the latest Betaversion of forscan.
So the flashing itself went through without any problem.
No errors or whatsoever.
After the Update I have 2-3 DTCs:
U2100:00 8A Configuration not completed
U2101:00 0A Configuration not compatible
and one DTCs about the BCM storage, which is gone after a BCM reset. Most annoying thing is that the interior and trunk light is flashing when ignition is on. I loaded the asbuilt factory and made a reset of the BCM but DTCs and flashing light didnt go away.
So I flashed the BCM back to factory firmware. This also went through without any problems. Flashing interior light and DTCs also appeared but went away after BCM reset and never came back.
What did I do wrong? Please help!

Re: Ford Focus MK4 BCM Firmware Update
Updating the BCM because you have problems with the battery is NOT the correct solution.
The scan BEFORE updating the BCM is required - go back to the original fault.
The BCM is now SOS (Stuck On Stupid). This is NOT the preferred method but at least try this option. (Capacitance Learned Values)
1) Disconnect both of the battery cables.
2) Clip a wire between both the positive and negative cables and make sure NOTHING touches the battery posts.
3) Leave both cables connected over night and reconnect both cables the next day without the clipped wire.

https://forscan.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=70631#p70631
4) Clear all faults if possible and perform the recovery.
Post your results and fix the battery issue BEFORE bricking a control module.
Test for a suspect battery parasite with an AMP clamp after the network has entered sleep mode.

Re: Ford Focus MK4 BCM Firmware Update
Updating the firmware of the BCM is one of several solutions told by ford to fix the loading strategy of the ford focus MK4. This is a special MK4 problem, other models will be also affected.
The solutions for the fix include:
- Updating BMS Sensor - Installed the latest CB Version.
- Updating TCU Firmware - Already done by ford. This took hours.. This was done causw TCU sucked on the battery even the car was off..
- Updating BCM to the latest strategy calibration.
- In some cases when the battery is already dead: Replacement of the battery. I already have a new one at home, but will replace it after everything else is done.
So: Still I am trying to update the firmware. I can flash it without problems - no errors while installation - but cant erase the two DTCs when the latest BJC Version is installed.
U2100:00 8A Configuration not completed
U2101:00 0A Configuration not compatible
including flashing dome and trunk light.
The BCM is not bricked. I can flash it back to factory again without problems and the DTCs are gone.
So I need help how to fix the U2100 and 2101 DTC which are only when the latest BJC Firmware is installed. Loading factory asbuilt and rewriting everything to initialize the BCM didnt help. A module reset didnt help..
I dont know what to do and forscan support is also not answering at the moment..

Re: Ford Focus MK4 BCM Firmware Update
Your quote:
"The BCM is not bricked. I can flash it back to factory again without problems and the DTCs are gone."
Then use the original file, the new version is likely not compatible with your model.
It's common sense when we work on Ford models and also use a Ford subscription with the VCM III.
If there is no flash available through the subscription, forcing one is not the cure.
Your quote:
"Updating the firmware of the BCM is one of several solutions told by ford to fix the loading strategy of the ford focus MK4".
Just because there is a flash file available, doesn't mean it will work or fit.
In many cases, the physical BCM (new) requires replacement with the new flash update.
If the original BCM operates and there are no faults, leave it to factory levels.
Just because Ford "told" doesn't mean there's truth to their statement.

Re: Ford Focus MK4 BCM Firmware Update
The version should be compatibel to my Model, because other MK4 are using it.
The version is available through the subscription and I am not forcing anything with custom settings. It is in fact the latest available version for my BCM.
Just because there is a problem with the configuragion doesnt mean it is not working at all.
And yes the original version operates but not as it should.
Fact is: The version is available and should be compatible to my BCM. So it should be running...

Re: Ford Focus MK4 BCM Firmware Update
With a power supply attached and the ignition ON, go to each module and reinitialize each one.
In other words "Configuration and programming function - Module initialization/relearn from Central Configuration":
Initialize the controllers in the list if provided.

Re: Ford Focus MK4 BCM Firmware Update
Thanks to the ForScan Support the mystery is solved.
The AsBuilt changed with the new firmware in 3 Blocks, so my AsBuilt Configuration needed to be changed and was updatet. Everything is running now with the latest BCM BJC Version without problems.
No DTCS and the flashing light is also gone.
