ELM327-compatible adapters - how to choose

Thanks again for the very informative info. For now I only have used the bbfly-BF32302 to reset the BMS on my 2014 Ford Escape after changing the battery. I was thinking about getting more into the other settings with FORScan but I would purchase a ODBLink EX for that.
In the first post of this thread it states that the ODBLink EX uses the STN2230 chip. The article was updated in 2019-12-11. I was curious if ODBLink was still using the same chip and contacted them. They got back to me and said that it now uses the FTDI FT230X chip.
Ok, one more question. Are these 2 chips similar, same, different?

The download page lists Vlinker FD adapters that are cheap and cheerful. I got the bluetooth one and it works much better than generic Chinese junk I had previously. I would expect the USB version works just as well.

Does original elm 327 ,driver from 2011, year ,does work vith this Forscan...thank you,,

It should work but with advancements in FORScan itself, they are no longer supported. Data rates are too slow, some functions aren't supported nor tested with the old ELM's. This is very clear on their website & in forum posts.

Do yourself a favour & buy a vLinker FS USB device before you brick a module.
