I have been using Forscan Lite for sometime, Samsung Tablet, MotoG6 phone and a ZTE phone (as a tablet, Wifi from house or OBD). In fact for taking certain data at fueling I usually use the ZTE.
When I went to use it today it would not authenticate for long, seconds usually.
It said something like open your Google account (which I am not sure what that meant) and then carry on.???
In order to use any device I have to switch from the house wifi and pick on Tacklife ( OBD wifi signal) and off we go to the Forscan icon on the screen allowing that to connect and turn the top left corner symbol green.
I tried my tablet and that picked up straight away, tried my Moto-G phone and got the same message as the ZTE.
I reinstalled Forscan which meant I still had the house wifi signal so the device was working to a point.
After a bit of messing with the Moto g in the house that worked in the car with Forscan, but not the ZTE.
Seems the signal is too weak on the ZTE, yet it worked fine a month ago, battery is ok.
It all started with the system wanting to re-authenticate.
I am not IT so please don't baffle me. Thanks.

Re: Device not Authenticating
1) Forscan Lite does not require a WiFi (internet) connection to operate.
2) A WiFi ELM device will create many more problems and never worth the time or effort
3) A Bluetooth device is a better option like the OBDLink MX + or OBDLink EX (USB with OTG)
OTG (On The Go) connector if available on Android model.

Re: Device not Authenticating
FORScan Lite needs an Internet connection when first used and the device needs to be logged into the Google account of the person who paid for it. After that it checks once or twice a year that the device using it is logged into the same Google account as the person who bought it, so either you had no signal to allow the verification or the device is not logged into your Google account.
This may now change because FORScan Lite has been removed this week from Google Play.

Re: Device not Authenticating
ECMbuster, for several years I have had no problem using wifi connection on the 3 devices, the OBD reader does not have any output wired connection.
Donny,
I will try the ZTE phone at my next opportunity, so it could be the Google connection by wifi not strong enough in the garage for that device, the Moto6 phone and Samsung tablet are fine
The reason for Forscan Lite being removed from Plaý Store, is it due to Forscan removing it or Play store because of its Russian connection?

Make sure the phone is still logged into your Google account as well.
The reasons for FORScan removing it from the Google play are given in a few places on the FORScan.org website.

That comment is so interesting. Use your WiFi connection but let's clear up what you've missed.Mareng wrote: Sun Jan 01, 2023 2:21 pm ECMbuster, for several years I have had no problem using wifi connection on the 3 devices, the OBD reader does not have any output wired connection.

The ELM327 WiFi connection AND connected to the vehicle, will NOT / NEVER connect to the home WiFi or any WiFI that's available at the same time.
I do understand clearly how a WiFI OBD II reader works and have the need to explain that it's not wired?

Re: Device not Authenticating
Seems the ZTE phone ( this was a throw away phone anyway as it was a locked sim my wife used in the US) has a weak wifi connection for some reason all of a sudden, but I still have access with my tablet and mobile phone. So all is not lost.
I noticed the post after bit of searching the loss of access through Play Store, so what happens now if you want to uninstall/ reinstall.
ECMbuster, perhaps we were at cross purposes.

Re: Device not Authenticating
I dont use the ZTE phone now but use my Moto G6 which I have used before without problems to connect to Forscan.
I tried it today and got this come up. So what pin number are they talking about. This has never come up before, the Android tablet works ok. Apart from the 1...8 I don't have another number and that one doesn't work as that is only for pairing. The phone sees the OBD in the Wifi section.

Re: Device not Authenticating
It's asking for the code that you got in the email after you paid for the app.

Re: Device not Authenticating
Perhaps so John, but that was 6 years ago, I have no recollection of any code except the pairing code mentioned previously.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled in the past without any problems, added to my 2 phones without this original code. Checked my password book and nothing in there either so I would assume when downloading from the PlayStore then one wasn't required.
Maybe Forscan moderator can help me out with this.
