Installing USB drivers for OBDLink EX

Post by obdlink »

Most of the time, OBDLink EX installation is a smooth process: the USB drivers should install automatically as soon as you plug it in.

Unfortunately, certain laptop models feature a non-compliant USB 3.0 controller which sometimes causes problems for our customers.
If you receive "USB not recognized" or similar error messages, try one of the following solutions:

1. Plug OBDLink into a different USB port
2. Connect OBDLink via a USB 2.0 hub
3. Manually install the FTDI USB drivers

If none of the above solutions work, please contact OBDLink Support.

Kind regards,
OBDLink Support Team

Good afternoon,
BRAND New to this Forum.
I am having connection issues on my second attempt after reading all the forum discussions on using this Connection (OBDLink EX) prior.
I was able to make connection at my first attempt and download / create a Log, using Laptop, not App.
I just went back out to reconnect, followed OBD's instruction to the Tee, Plugged adapter in truck / laptop, turned on ignition, tried to connect, get a error message now adapter found. Light is green on adapter to which OBD instructions state ready to go, Nothing comes up ..WIFI strong..
Any help or guidance is much appreciated.
2013 F150 Platinum.
Thank you..

Thank you f-wolf...
I thought I had all the updated drivers, especially since it worked perfectly out of the box so to speak.
I guess wierder things can happen.
I will try again tomorrow and see if this driver update worked.

Hello @Signalsguy, can you post what setting you had to change to make yours work? I’m having the same problem with my EX adapter. I followed the guide and still have no luck. Updated the firmware and no difference. I know it’s not the adapter because obdwiz works just fine.
Thanks!
