TCU Firmware Update Failing

Post by elpamyelhsa »

I currently have a problem with a bricked LV4T-14G087-DB TCU after trying an incremental firmware update.

The TCU is plugged into the HSCAN3 bus, but Forscan is detecting it on the HSCAN2 for some reason.

During a firmware upgrade it sits at "Erasing block 2/2" for about 9min before failing.

The device is now bricked if anyone has some ideas. See screen shots attached.

Edit:Using FORScan 2.4.7.test20221016 and FORScan 2.4.6 beta

Use an old profile of your car,the TCU will show up than you can update it,if it doesn’t work contact Forscan team.

The TCU is still detected in FORScan, but it cannot read module configuration, and all PIDs have disappeared leaving just one "Operational State". Have tried reflashing with the same error each time.

Have you tried actual software, otherwise you have to use UCDS to bring it to live.

Can you clarify the term actual software?

and using UCDS seems a non-starter with sit down before reading fee structure - or am I missing something.

That means if the module is still visible in Forscan you should see calibration level and strategy so try update it with these levels first to bring it to live than chose the software you need,UCDS is more stable for module updating but not easy to procure due to the Russian Ukrainien conflict.

While I have tried restoring it a few times it does keep failing with the same error after about 9min of erasing,

It looks like another SBL existed for it that may help, any chance someone has "LL5T-14G141-BC.vbf" SBL file laying around or any SBL 14G141 starting with LL5T, LV4T or LB5T?

The last time I had this issue with Forscan this was related to battery not enough charged to complete the procedure, whatever your case a battery charger must be used when updating modules especially(ms can,hs3 can hs4 can ones) it took me more than 45m when i updated my IPC.
For the SBL VBF files you are looking for only LB5T-14G141-BC is available.
