My father-in-law, who is 85 yrs old, has a MK2.5 Focus (UK) 2011 Titanium with the passive entry system, keyless start and electric steering column lock.
The piggy back RKE module had gone down, causing non start, and the RKE has been replaced, at considerable cost, but the the car still will ...

It's a shame no one has ever answered this.
I take it it can't or hasn't been done

What issues are you getting?
S-Max/Galaxy suffers from broken comms wires in the main, large connector in the LH front wheel arch
You already have AM level calibration installed

Reinstall the OLD PCM, if it still talks.

Download the factory asbuilt and the firmware

Put the new PCM back in and try to reload the files

Is the new PCM exactly the same as the old one?

If it's performing well, I'd leave it alone

Does anyone know how to set the BCM so I can lock the car with the remote while the engine is running?

On my MK4 2019 Focus you can lock the doors with the remote, if the key is out of the car, with the engine running

Just have a decent remap done, I don't know where you are, but in UK we have Superchips which can boost 100, 125 & 140 to 157BHP, safely and reliably, without the need for hardware changes

Try recovery mode

I think that's correct

I'm sure if you keep driving it will settle back down again
